Member Spotlight March 2020: Hubert Demers

Hubert Demers is in our Member Spotlight this month!

Hubert has been an ASL-English interpreter since 1986. He has been involved in a variety of sports including hockey, curling and basketball for many years. A multi-sport athlete himself, he also volunteers his time to interpret for sporting events through CDSA, both locally and internationally. Most recently, he was in Italy with Team Canada ice hockey players at the 2019 Winter Deaflympics, in Montreal for the Festival d’été (Summer Festival) on July 4-7, 2019, and in Indianapolis for the USA Deaf Basketball (USADB) Tournament on April 11-13, 2019.

In his spare time, Hubert can be found spending time with his grandchildren, being involved in Deaf events, and riding his motorcycle wherever the wind takes him. He has a big heart and will help with interpreting when it’s needed, even at the last minute.
