Ross LaVallee

Curling Committee Chair

Hello, my name is Ross LaVallee and I’ve been involved in sports almost all my life. I started with hockey for two years when I was 9 years old, and then switched over and played in curling, and have been curling ever since with a five-year break in between to focus on raising my daughters.

I’ve started competitive curling and have been training to advance my curling skills to be more competitive as the rest of the world is also training and getting better at curling. We need to keep the gold in Canada!

I have won several gold and silver medals in Canadian Deaf Curling Championships, with a gold medal in the 3rd World Deaf Curling Championships in Sochi, Russia in 2017. I am currently training at the Cargill Curling Training Centre with other Deaf curlers, while simultaneously taking coaching classes to become a coach in curling for when I decide to leave competitive curling. This way, I will continue being involved in the curling scene and teach curling to new players as well as experienced curlers to advance their skills as well as coach them to compete at the national and international levels.

I also play volleyball on the side from time to time, playing in a recreational league sometimes.

I enjoy spending a lot of time with my family. My two daughters play in sports too, one in volleyball and one in curling.
