POSTPONED: World Deaf Golf Championship 2020

From Manitoba Deaf Sports Association and Golf MDSA, we are saddened to announce the cancellation of the World Deaf Golf Championship 2020. We certainly understand the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus, and please know that athletes have our continued support and we will monitor  future participation.

Here is  Simeon Hart’s message of the cancellation, with a transcript below:

Hello Golf World!

My name is Simeon Hart, president of World Deaf Golf Federation.

It is with heavy hearts that the WDGF must announce the cancellation of the World Deaf Golf Championship set to take place this coming August 2020. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis it will be postponed. We must adhere to the regulations and advisories implemented by the British government.

Our host Forest of Arden Golf Club recommended it to be moved and are working together with the board and the Local Organizing Committee – England Deaf Golf (LOC) to select another date for the WDGC.

We hope you all understand and ask for your patience as we wait for more information. We gladly support LOC and Forest of Arden Golf Club and once they have reached a decision and we’ve agreed on a new date, WDGF will make an announcement.

I understand this news is tough to hear and I know you are all excited to practice and play golf. However, we want to be careful about the risk of exposure with COVID-19. We value you and your well-being is important to us. We hope you understand.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email the WDGF Board or LOC. We’ll be happy to respond. We are one big golf family and are working closely with the LOC. These are difficult times and we hope you understand. I will remain in contact them and will keep you updated as information becomes available.
