Cancellation of Women’s Hockey 2019 Winter Deaflympics in Italy

Hello,

Since last Fall, you have shown your interest to be a part of the Canadian Ice Hockey Team. Unfortunately, I am sorry to inform you that the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) has announced today that Women’s Ice Hockey is cancelled for the upcoming Winter Deaflympics due to the low number of registered countries.

Although it is a disappointment for everyone, we still encourage the players to pursue their passion as ice hockey players and to plan for their participation at the Canada Deaf Games that will take place on May 12-16, 2020, in Edmonton.

At the Games, it will be based on the 3 vs. 3 format and we strongly encourage you to get more information about the event through your PDSA (BCDSF, ADSA, SDSA, MDSA, ODSA, and ASSQ) as soon as possible. With the 3 vs. 3 format in Edmonton, we can expect at least 5 Women’s Ice Hockey teams. Do not miss this opportunity!

Sportively yours
