Athlete Spotlight February 2020: Gerard McDonald
Gerard McDonald is in our Member Spotlight this month!
Gerard is a true blue hockey player, coach, owner and fan. He was the Team Canada ice hockey assistant coach at the Deaflympics 2019 in Italy, and has been coaching Deaf teams since 2006, starting with Team Western in Calgary that year and soon afterward coaching at an international level in the first World Deaf Hockey Championship held in Winnipeg. He has played professional hockey in Europe, and has played in the Jets organization for the Tulsa Oilers. He is currently the vice-president of the Winnipeg Jets Alumni and Friends. Gerard looks forward to continuing as a volunteer ice hockey coach in the future.
In his spare time, Gerard can be found spending time at their cottage on Lake Manitoba.
