Deaf Golf Committee Chair
My name is Andrew Thompson. I was born in Michigan, USA and went to college at NTID (National Technical Institute for the Deaf). Then I moved to Winnipeg in 2007. I played on the golf team in high school and I continue to play during the regular season. I will be competing in the 2019 Canadian Deaf Golf Championship. Recently I’ve become interested in playing pickle ball as well. I have been on the board as the Manitoba Deaf Golf Club (MDGC) representative since MDSA was established in 2011.
When I’m not playing sports, I have three beautiful children that keep me busy. My daughter is Deaf and she is involved in gymnastics. My oldest son is involved in judo. Through my work on the board I am learning new things about the Deaf community and what we can do for them.
